The Superiority Of ARTT Over Advantage Play
by Rob Singer
Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Rob Singer What is “advantage play”? It’s the very simple concept of sitting for many long and monotonous hours at the video poker machines, making believe you have an edge over the casino by adding up machine EV along with any and all freebies you’re accumulating by the use of your colorful little slot club card. It almost always produces losers, it usually destroys the normal life that players cursed by this method once had, and it promotes a pathological addiction to the machines as well as slot club cards along with an extreme denial to all that is now occurring.

What is “ARTT”? It’s a play strategy I developed called “Advanced Romp-Thru-Town” that, while far more complex to play than simple optimal-play-only strategy, affords more enjoyment, allows for a very real opportunity to realize consistent profiting directly from the machines, and because it is a short-term only approach, it neither promotes addiction nor requires the typical advantage-player-denial that is the cornerstone of all problems related to that very misleading style of play. The ARTT player will almost always be totally free of casino compulsion, simply because they play on THEIR terms, when THEY choose to play, and how THEY wish to go about it. The silly long-term strategy “rules” saying to play as long and as often as one can on positive EV games only as accurately as any robot would do along with nothing but the most lucrative of slot club programs, is, in effect, the most laughable of all casino-enthusiasts’ interpretations. ARTT is a serious endeavor.

ARTT, like my other strategies, relies on several main requirements in order to have a chance at the incredible success I’ve had since becoming a professional gambler in 1999. The player must never play without the recommended GAMING-ONLY BANKROLL. Anyone can contact me at any time inquiring what that would be. Once I know the parameters of your situation I can then advise on a specific bankroll for your particular needs. Without that bankroll then you should not be playing. You will thoroughly understand what I tell you because my figures, unlike those dictated by our famous named marketing friends, are never created in the clouds for sales sake.

The player must possess an iron-clad discipline along with extreme dedication and determination. Whatever you say you are going to do—and how—must be followed through on no matter how potentially dyer the circumstances. The player must understand that luck is 95% or more of the game they are playing, and should never be misled by other vp gurus who want you to think that skill is the main ingredient - just so they can dazzle you with the math while selling you some of their many, many products designed to keep gambling money in THEIR pockets.

Although I have done very well with the strategy and teach it to many new and seasoned regular and reformed advantage players all the time - with constant reports of newfound satisfaction and enjoyment never before realized in the game of video poker – I’m still being told of and receive criticisms by those who really have little idea on how the strategy operates.

Their main gripe? They claim it’s a form of (Ho-Hum...) Martingale, and whenever they try to support their analogies they make certified gambling dufuses look smart. Again folks, Martingale is a strict adherence to doubling up on your bet every time you lose until you either win a hand or meet the game’s maximum bet limit – and nothing else. In ARTT (and we’ll use a 25c/50c/$1/$2 progression here) after playing and losing your first four hands, you play 95 more credits at the top level on Bonus Poker, then if you lose without realizing a recovery of all that was lost plus a profit of at least $1.25, you increase game volatility to Super Double Bonus Poker/Triple Bonus Poker Plus/or Double Double Bonus Poker (in that order of preference) for up to the next 300 credits. Your goal? Once again, to recover all that was lost on $2 BP & $2 SDBP as well as on the first 3 hands of the three lower denominations, and to make at least a $1.25 profit. Now, for some to pretend this is a Martingale approach means they have never understood either ARTT, Martingale...or both!

As you can probably gather from the above paragraph, you will have many more winning sessions than losing ones, and one of the drivers behind this fact is how effectively the approximately 5% of the special plays that deviate from optimal strategy, work. However, the critics claim when the big loss comes that it will more than wipe out all of those smaller winners. Yet for some strange reason, they choose to ignore the fact that there are far more HUGE WINNERS than there are huge losers. Why would they react like that? Simple: Because they just do not want to accept my extraordinary win record, and they cannot live with the fact that there is a way to beat the video poker machines consistently WITHOUT the need for slot card fluff or the creation of significantly overvalued freebies & comps in order to manufacture a winner out of a loser.

Of course, the math people like to believe they’ve dissed my play strategy by stumbling through inaccurate computer simulations, running through endless statistics, and eventually, with their inherent rampant ignorance laced with intolerable envy, they almost always turn to namecalling. It always seems to come down to the same old crutch that I am able to chop to pieces whenever I argue their own points with them. Over and over they repeat that if my strategy is played on negative EV games then it will lose – and the more negative the games the bigger the loss. But if I were to play it on positive EV games only and with no errors along the way, my results would then be...what else...positive! And naturally, the more positive the games the more I would win.

There is never anything intelligent about that type of argument, simply because it strives to apply long-term rules to short-term play. No hand of video poker is ever influenced by any that have come before or by any that have yet to occur, and therefore, no string of video poker hands, regardless of the quantity, can ever have any type of relationship in any way. So for my math critics to continuously use hypocrisy in their arguments against my short-term strategy only makes them look increasingly ridiculous in the eyes of the true professionals. And it remains the number one reason why none of them or their guru friends have ever accepted bets on either my offers to prove that I’ve won in the past, or my offers to play ARTT sessions GOING FORWARD with them as witnesses. Of course, lack of money could be the reason, but even when I suggest they all pool their resources and take me up on the bets, even that confidence-building scenario doesn’t do a thing to increase their courage.

At the end of the day, I suppose they feel much more comfortable hiding behind their computers ducking challenges while ramping up the criticisms anyway. And since they really don’t want any of that to end, I’ll probably never see any of them come out of their coward state. That’s fine, because while most of them slave away at jobs no successful video poker player would ever want to OR NEED TO do, ARTT has allowed me to have all the time in the world...
